Method of sterilizing glassware

In order to sterilize glassware, several methods can be used:


1. Heat sterilization: Place the glassware in a high temperature environment, such as a high temperature oven or automatic sterilizer. A common combination of temperature and time is pressurized steam sterilization at 121 degrees Celsius for 15-20 minutes. This method can effectively kill bacteria, viruses and fungi in the utensils.


2. Dry heat sterilization: Put the glassware in a dry heat oven and keep it at high temperature for a period of time. It is usually baked at 160-180 degrees Celsius for 2-4 hours. Dry heat sterilization is suitable for items that are not resistant to humidity, but it takes a longer time.


3. Chemical sterilization: sterilization with disinfectant or chemical reagents. For example, glassware can be disinfected using alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or sodium hypochlorite solutions. Use chemical sterilizers correctly as directed by the manufacturer.


4. Ultraviolet radiation: Use ultraviolet lamps to radiate the surface of glassware to kill microorganisms. This method is suitable for sterilizing smaller utensils or surfaces. Please note that UV rays are harmful to the skin and eyes and must be handled with care.
